Lane Lines
|
Competition and Exercise Equipment USA Swimming and Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur, or FINA, have enacted lane-line rules and restrictions including pool lengths of 50m for a long course or 25m for a short-course race. USA Swimming Lanes: USA Swimming indicates that there should be eight lanes in a pool used for international or national swimming competitions. Each lane should be 2.5 m. There should be approximately 0.45 m of open water on the outsides of both the first and last lanes of the pool. FINA Swimming Lanes: In FINA regulations, there should be 2 m between lanes and 0.2 meters of water space outside the first and last lanes. FINA regulations dictate eight lanes for regular meets. For the Olympic Games and World Championship meets, 10 lanes are required. |
